Introduction
The North Coulour of Mt. Gilbert is one of the Sierra Nevada's classic alpine ice routes. According to R. J. Secor's The High Sierra, 2nd ed., this route is rated Grade III, 5.6 and features 900 feet of 50 to 65 degree ice. Steve Aho's partner on this climb was Ivan Schatz.
